Gaisce or ‘great achievement’ is a self-development programme for young people between the ages of 15-25 and has been in existence since 1985. The Awards initially flourished under the patronage of former President Patrick Hillery and to date and have been carried by incoming President’s. Gaisce is focused on, and driven by, the core values of Empowerment, Inclusion & Equality, Respect and Excellence.

At St. Jarlath’s College, we offer the Gaisce Programme to Senior Students – Transition Year, 5th and 6th Years. There are three awards bronze, silver and gold. Within each award, there are four key challenge areas:

1. Community Involvement

2. Personal Skill

3. Physical Recreation

4. Adventure Journey
