Rang Iarlaith

In 2014 St. Jarlath’s College established a multi-disability class to facilitate students who may need additional care and support. The management and staff endeavour to make the students school experience a happy and fulfilling one in which they can grow and develop to their full potential and experience success in a caring and supportive environment.

Recognising the importance of inclusion we strive to integrate the students into the mainstream school community where possible. The student’s five-year educational plan is tailored to their individual strengths and needs allowing the opportunity for them to engage in a wide range of core subjects. These include literacy, numeracy, geography, science, P.E., digital literacy and wellbeing. Practical subjects such as Woodwork and Art and functional life skills are also an integral part of the curriculum.

Our special class, Rang Iarlaith, has expanded since its inception to include four separate learning spaces. Facilities include personal workstations for all our students, a multi-sensory area, individual desktop computers, an occupational therapy area with a wide range of IT equipment and a spacious kitchen area.

Each student develops with the support of experienced and dedicated staff who provide a structured and safe environment in which they grow in confidence and independence and prepare for their life’s journey.
