Senior Rugby Win

The Senior Rugby Team continued on their winning ways with a hard fought 27-13 victory over HRC Mountbellew on Tuesday. Despite not performing to the best of their ability, a flurry of late tries at the end of either half secured victory. Jarlath’s started poorly and were 0-8 adrift after ten minutes. Jarlath’s struggled to maintain any momentum and were continually penalised at the breakdown. However, with five minutes remaining to half-time Jarlath’s finally scored with Eoin Fitzpatrick dotting down, followed by an excellent conversion by Liam O’Shaughnessy. Within two minutes Jarlath’s had their second try with Rian Maloney getting over in the corner leaving the half-time score 12-8.

Jarlath’s started the second half poorly and conceded a soft try to trail 12-13. However, the introduction of several substitutions finally gave life to the Jarlath’s challenge and an excellent individual try from outside centre Liam Walsh saw Jarlath’s reclaim the lead. A bonus point was secured with five minutes remaining when winger Aaron Murtagh forced his way over from close range. Oisin McWalter added the extras and a late penalty to leave the final score 27-13. The seniors last league game is away to St Enda’s on Tuesday 16th November.

St Jarlath’s U14 secured their second win in the league with an excellent triumph over Clarin College. Tries from Dara Costello (2), Rian Murray, JJ Farragher and Andrew Kehoe secured a 37-14 victory.
