Opera 2020 - Godspell
Prepare Ye for the musical madness of “Godspell”. In this timeless tale of building community, friendship, loyalty, and love, a small group of disciples help Jesus to portray a variety of parables through song, dance, and a lot of humour. The famous annual St Jarlath’s College Amateur Operatic Society, in conjunction with Scoil Bhríde/The Mercy, proudly presents its annual production on Friday December 11th, 2020.
The Opera in St. Jarlath’s College is an unbroken tradition spanning 77 years, the longest running school musical in the country. This year, of course, has presented a unique challenge for both schools but we were determined not to break this tradition, all be it with the health and safety of everyone involved a priority. “Godspell” will be the first online “Opera” in the history of the St. Jarlath’s College. This production has a cast of ten students and will be streamed worldwide as a pay per view event on Friday, December 11th. Rehearsals have been conducted over the past number of weeks, following all COVID-19 guidelines.
Performances by the students are being pre-recorded this week and prepared for final streaming by past pupil Dylan Connolly. Audiences can watch a livestream of this recorded show in the comfort of their own homes on Friday 11th December by booking a ticket online. Only one ticket is needed no matter how many are watching together. Tickets to view “Godspell” online are available now at the following link: www.gr8events.ie/jarlathsmercyopera2020.
Spread the word and join us on the couch on Friday December 11th at 8pm for what promises to be a very special performance and thank you very much for your continued support.
