Connacht U-16 Golf Champions

IMG-20170923-WA0006Well done to the St. Jarlath’s College U-16 Golf team who won the Connacht Irish Schools Pennant last Wednesday. Congratulations to Darragh Cunningham, Jack Davin and Mark Colleran. A big thank you also to their teacher Mr. Talty.

“Having been bridesmaid on three occassions in the last decade the young men of St. Jarlath’s College in Tuam finally got their hands on a provincial schools pennant when they took the 2017.18 Irish Junior Schools crown in emphatic style at Ballinrobe.

Despite a poor forecast the players were all fortunate to avoid any heavy downpours during play and it was the St. Jarlath’s threesome who made the most of the benign conditions posting what was to be an unasailable aggregate nett score of 135 courtesy of a nett 66 from Darragh Cunningham (5) and Jack Davin (5) 69.

In the end those great scores secured a nine stroke winning margin over CBS Roscommon for whom Thomas Higgins (2) returned a gross -2 (71) 69nett.
