Art and Music Cultural Day

20171019_172929The music and art dept travelled to Dublin on the 19th Oct for  a cultural day. The TY students and 5th year art class and 5th and 6th year music students were accompanied by their teachers Ms Conlon, Ms Feerick and Ms Kenny. Their first stop was to the National Art Gallery, Dublin. Ms Conlon’s group had a guided tour of the Dutch and Yeats section in the gallery, whilst Ms Feerick and Ms Kenny gave a self-guided tour with the remainder. The trip to the gallery is a rewarding experience. There are so many pieces to see, created in so many different styles and in so many historical periods.
The art group then went on to the National Museum and the Natural History Museum.
The TYs and Ms Burke’s music group with Ms Kenny and Ms Feerick went on to see the show Miss Saigon in the Bord GAIS Theatre.
Miss Saigon is a powerful dramatic musical based on Giacomo Puccini’s opera Madam Butterfly, and similarly tells the tragic tale of a doomed romance involving an Asian woman abandoned by her American lover.
